The beautiful Rachael Taylor. You’ve seen her before. Just last year she was one of the girls working for Charlie in the second television version of Charlie’s Angels. You have seen her as the quirky children’s doctor, Dr. Lucy Fields, in Grey’s Anatomy, who romanced Justin Chambers’ character, Dr. Alex Karev.
Now she’s part of a naively ambitious couple who take up residence at 666 Park Ave, in the new ABC series.
Taylor was born in Tasmania, yes, Tasmania as in Tasmanian devil. She attended Riverside High School there. Taylor is quick to emphasize that she was born in Tasmania, not Australia, although Tasmania is just about 150 miles south, separated by a strait of water.
She later moved to Sydney, Australia to pursue modeling and acting and like fellow export, actor Simon Baker, got her start in local television. Taylor starred in a series called Headland, which won her a Aussie TV magazine award called a Logie, this got her noticed in Hollywood and she in turn, got a role in Transformers.
Today, she lives in Los Angeles, only occasionally getting home and when she does, it’s obviously a treat. AStarWasBorn.com caught up with Taylor to talk to her about her exotic birthplace, and her new role on ABC’s 666 Park Avenue.
ASWB: You are from Tasmania?
RT: I am from Tasmania.
“I recommend checking the extraordinary scenery and doing the Cradle Mountain Hike. It’s absolutely breathtaking.”
ASWB: What was like growing up in Tasmania?
RT: Tasmania is a very beautiful little island state off the south coast of Australia. I miss it very much. From New York, it would take me 28 hours to get to my parent’s house.
ASWB: What do you miss about Tasmania?
RT: My mom and dad and I miss the porgies (fish). It’s a very clean and green little state.
ASWB: Do you still go back to your hometown?
ASWB: What do you do when you go back?
RT: I see my friends. I think the most interesting thing about anywhere in the world is always the people, not the place. But I eat well and I get in the ocean.
ASWB: What do you eat?
RT: Anything my mother makes.
ASWB: And she makes …?
RT: Well, Tasmania is known for its fine produce. It has excellent wine and excellent cheese. So I hook myself up with some King Island cheese.
ASWB: If you have friends going to Tasmania to visit, what is the number one thing you recommend?
RT: I recommend checking the extraordinary scenery and doing the Cradle Mountain Hike. It’s absolutely breathtaking. And there are truly parts of Tasmania where the wilderness is absolutely untouched.

ASWB: You look great. You’re keeping in shape. What are you doing?
RT: Well it’s hard when you are working. I do a little bit of running and I do a little bit of dancing and I try to live happy. I think that is the most important thing.
I don’t work out if I don’t want to because that’s when I feel like it’s not a positive thing, but sometimes I lift some weights too.
ASWB: How do you see your character in 666 Park Avenue?
RT: She’s just a good girl. She’s a good person. She’s an ordinary girl that’s going to find herself in some extraordinary circumstances and she loves her partner, Henry and she’s curious. She’s very investigative.
